Katherine's Cove

Katherine's Cove  - in Lake Superior Provincial Park

The winds off Lake Superior are brisk. Aquamarine waves, tipped with whitecaps, roll onto the beach. Wispy clouds move swiftly across the sky. The wind and the spray of the waves feel refreshing on my face … the air so clear and cool that I instinctively breathe deeply.

Agawa Bay
Back in the trees, sheltered from the offshore winds, it's a bit warmer but not much. The sound of the waves is muted. The smell of the trees permeates the air. It's a grand day to be alive hiking the beaches of Gitche Gumee. It feels good to be part of this natural splendour.

Old Woman Bay
Katherine's Cove is a popular stop on the way through Lake Superior Provincial Park. If you're heading for Wawa, or on to Thunder Bay, be sure to visit Katherine's Cove, Agawa Bay and Old Woman Bay to get a first-hand introduction to Lake Superior.
