Reflections of Tom and Harry

Reflections of Tom and Harry - Trout River, Newfoundland

While exploring the town of Trout River NL, this reflection of a boat caught my eye. The photo was made possible by the fact that the boat was up on blocks and the harbour was at low tide. I've turned the photo upside down to make more sense of the image.

Obviously the name references the old saying "Every Tom, Dick and Harry …" or maybe the owners are Tom and Harry or the owner is named Dick and his boat is Tom and Harry. It's a fun name in any event. A reader and resident of the East Coast suggested that Tom and Harry are the fisherman's sons. Apparently it is a tradition to name your boat after your sons or daughters.

You can purchase a fine art print of this photograph here.
