The End of Winter in Port Stanley

The End of Winter in Port Stanley

It's a Sunday afternoon in late March. The village of Port Stanley is quiet, idyllic. This Port Stanley bears little resemblance to the "beach town" of the summer.

The ice is breaking up on Lake Erie but the shoreline and harbour remain filled with ice. Fishing boats line the edge of the harbour waiting patiently for the ice to be gone, for the season to begin.

A pair of mallards stand side by side on the edge of floating ice. It won't be long before we see ducklings.

It's the end of winter in Port Stanley. Spring is (finally) on its way.
